Due to the regional economic integration the Southeast Asian region is eagerly proceeding towards economic integration. ASEAN (The Association of Southeast Asian Nations) set up an Economic Community to enable a free movement of goods and services, capital, labor as well as technology, promoting a fair economic development. ASEAN are increasingly looking to ICT (information and communication technologies) for new opportunities and Taiwan as an active global player in this field. The Taipei Summit was initiated in 2005 with a focus on information and communication technologies (ICT). It offered a new, unique platform for high-level discussions on regional opportunities and brought together close to 300 business leaders and government officials from ten Southeast Asian countries. Many bilateral and multi-lateral talks followed, resulting in considerable mutual visits, training programs and tentative projects.
The 2006 Taipei Summit- “Taiwan-Southeast Asia ICT Forum” was took place in Taipei to further develop strategies on regional cooperation and investment. Over 10 ASEAN countries represented, with almost 300 local governmental and academic representatives as well as elite business leaders to explore possible business and cooperation opportunities.
The 2007 Taipei Summit WiMAX Asia-Pacific Conference & Exhibition main theme was illustrating the current development progress of WiMAX, and the changes it may bring forth to the telecommunications industry .A seminar was organized for key players sat together to discuss the current WiMAX trend. At the same time a WiMAX exhibition was also organized at which more than 40 well-known domestic and foreign manufacturers presented their goods and services. Over 600 experts, including political, economics and industry leaders from 19 countries attend the two-day event impressively proved the incredible success of this event.
The 2008 Taipei Summit-“Asia-Pacific Broadband Communication Conference” will take place at the Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall from 7 to 8 October 2008. Attendees will discuss the theme of Broadband Communication, as well as policies, business models, applications, solutions, standard and technology. Amongst invited speakers are CEOs and executives of major Taiwan service providers/supplies. Meanwhile, participants are also invited to visit the 2008 Broadband Taiwan exhibition which is near by, to be held from Oct.7-11, 2008. It will introduce the entire Taiwan communications industry chain and display numerous products on wireless communications and broadband networks. |
